W.B.C.S. (EXECUTIVE) EXAMINATION - 2016 [Optional Paper]

POLITICAL SCIENCE        PAPER - I

Time Allowed: 3 Hours       Full Marks: 200

If the questions attempted are in excess of the prescribed no only the questions attempted first up to the prescribed number shall be valued and the remaining ones as ignored.

Answers may be written either in English or in Bengali or in Nepali but all answers must be in one and the same language.

GROUP - A

Answer Question No. 1 and any two from the rest :-

1. Discuss Aristotle's theory of the State. In this, elaborate on his classification of Constitutions.       40

2. Analyse Dr. B. R. Ambedkar's contribution to Indian social and political thought. Write a short note on his difference with Mahatma Gandhi.        30

3. Differentiate between unitary and federal forms of government. In this context, discuss the problems India faces as a federation.     30

4. What are pressure group ?   Discuss their various types and the major pressure groups in India. What role do they play ?      30

Answer Question No. 5 and any two from the rest :-

5. Critically assess the historical background, working and nature of the constituent Assembly.       40

6. Critically evaluate the emergency powers of the President of India. Justify their existence.         30

7. Analyse the power of judicial review of the Supreme Court and High Courts in India. Argue for the against this system of Judicial Review in India.    30

8. What is the regionalism. Discuss the forms, causes and remedies of regionalism in India.    30
