Time Allowed : 3 Hours                                                                                                              Full Marks : 200

If the questions attempted are in excess of the prescribed number, only the questions attempted first up to the prescribed number shall be valued and the remaining ones ignored.

Answers may be given either in English or in Bengali but all answer must be in one and the same language.

4. What do you understand by post-industrial Society ?  Discuss its major dimensions.       40

5.  a) Discuss the important issues of citizenship in post-independent India.

     b) Do you agree with the view that 'civil society' can play a significant role in forming public opinion ? Justify your answer.        20+20
