                                                        Answer any three questions                18 x 3

 

1.  Discuss the topographical diversity of the Asian subcontinent briefly highlighting now it influences the geopolitics of southern and western Asia.

 

2.  Discuss the major differences in population policy of China and India, highlighting the impact of the differences on the growth rates of population of the respective countries.

 

3.  Analyze the significance of distribution of fossil fuel in the Asian subcontinent and indicate the strategic role of Pakistan in its utilization and trade.

 

4.  Discuss the problem of deforestation in different parts of India indicating the measures undertaken to combat it.

 

5.  Discuss the role of tectonic activity in triggering of disaster along the coastal areas of south, south east and eastern Asia.

 

6.  Discuss how climate change is likely to affect the Sundarbans. Mention why this deltaic zone has been selected a World Heritage site.

7.  Discuss how resource management has changed in Russia with the emergence of Commonwealth of Independent states.
