2.  Comment on any four of the following:

    (c)  Stele-evolution in pteridophytes

    (d)  Alternation of generations in Pinus

    (e)  Non-ferm features of Ophioglossum

    (f)  Non-gymnosperm features of Gnetum    5 x 4

 

3.  Explain any four of the folloing:

    (a)  Nature and function of a bacteriophage

    (b)  Serotypes of pathogenic bacteria

    (c)  Inocula nature and function

    (d)  Host pathogen relation

    (e)  Fertilization process in salvinia

4.  Distinguish between any four of the following:

5.  Give a short account of the following {any four):

    (a)  Ergot disease of cereals

    (b)  Importance of algae in industries

    (c)  Heterosexual behaviour in green algae

    (d)  Aflatoxin

    (e)  Heterospory evolution in ferms

    (f)  Embryo development types in angiosperms     5 x 4

6.  (a)  Define a lichen. Mention its components and discuss their roles. Indicate its roles as pollution indicator.    2+2+2+2

     (b)  Compare male and female gametophytes of an angiosperm their evolution from a pteridophyte.       4+8

 

7.   (a)  Do you consider flower is a telescopic structure ?  If so, discuss with reasons.    2+8

      (b)  Give an account of the occurrence of primitive gymnosperms in the Godwana land. Give suitable examples.     10

 

8.  (a) Trace the evolution of gametophytes in Bryophytes studied by you.     8

     (b) Compare the female gametophytes of Pinus with Gnetum-which one do you consider as most evolved ?  Give reasons for your answer.     6+1+5
