                                                        Answer any three questions

 

1.  Explain the various processes which cause Eolian erosion.  Describe the land forms produced by Eolian erosion and deposition.      4+8+8

 

2.  Define salinity. What are the difficulties in determination of salinity? Explain the methods for the determination of salinity of ocean water. Indicate the relationship between salinity and E-P in different oceans.    2+4+6+8

 

3.  Mention the genesis of soil formation. Name the major soil horizons. Classify soils as adopted by US Department of Agriculture and explain their characteristics.    4+4+12

 

4.  Explain the various sources of atmospheric pollutants. Describe their effects.

 

5.  Write short notes on any two of the following : (a) El Nino.   (b) Topographic maps in the study of geomorphology.   (c) Drainage patterns and their characteristics.

                                                            Answer any two questions.

 

6.  What are the components of culture? Explain the terms cultural landscape, cultural hearths, cultural diffusion, cultural ecology and cultural region.     5+15
