If the question attempted are in excess of the prescribed number, only the questions attempted first up to the prescribed number shall be valued and the remaining ones ignored. Answers may be written either in English or in Bengali but all the answers must be in one and the same language .

Answer any three questions ( all question carry 30 marks )
1. Discuss the development of Anthropology in India with special emphasis in post colonial India .
2. Describe the changes happened in human skeleton due to assumption of erect posture and bipedal locomotion with special on skull, vertebral column and pelvis.
3. Compare the distribution anatomical features and phylogenetic position of the classical and progressive Neanderthal population with suitable example .
4. Define Growth. Name the different stages of human growth with distinct characters of each stages. Name and explain the different features responsible for human growth and development
5. Write short notes on any two of the following.
(a) Forms of Marriage Payments
(b) Paleoanthropology as a conjunctive approach
(c) Debate between substantive and formalist

6. Discuss the relationship between culture and civilization with special emphasis on Redfeild Kroeber model
7. Diffrentiate between the concept of functionalism and structural functionalism exemplifying from the empirical studies made by B Malinowski and A.R Radcliffe Brown .
8. State the characteristic features of primitive economy. Discuss the characteristic features of a tribal market with an empirical example known to you.
9. Define ecological anthropology . Mention the different approaches studying ecological anthropology. Illustrate the concept of cultural ecology as suggested by Julian Steward .
10. Write short notes on any two of the following
(a) Anthropology and Post Modernism
(b ) Forensic Anthropology
(c) Anthropology of gender
