                                                        Answer any three questions

 

1.  Discuss with examples from India the different types of geomorphologic hazards that can lead to disasters.    14+6

 

2.  Explain the mechanism of ozone formation. Discuss the problem of ozone, depletion with examples.      8+12

 

3.  Define ecosystem and food chain.  Discuss with examples the significance of ecological studies in the contemporary world and highlight some of the measures taken in India to restore ecological balance.      8+8+4

 

4.  Explain the relation between plate movements and generation of tsunamis with examples. Highlight the different types of changes that can be induced by plate movements on the ocean floor.     10+10

 

5.  Briefly discuss the consequences of deforestation.  Explain the difference between social forestry and joint forest management with examples of their operation in India.      8+12

6.  Explain the difference between idiographic and nomothetic approach in geographical studies. Indicate which approach has become more relevant in contemporary research.      12+8
