Answer any three questions from Group A and any two from Group B.
All Questions carry equal marks.
Group A
Answer any three questions.
1. Explain how the sociological perspective helps us understand better the nature of society and its problems.
2. What do you consider the major contribution of Max Weber to sociology and why ?
3. Examine the relationship of socialization and personality.
4. Distinguish between primary and secondary groups and analyze their role in modern social life.
5. Briefly enumerate the demographic, technological and cultural factors of social change.
Group B
Answer any two questions.
6. Elucidate in short the social aspect of production, distribution and consumption, highlighting in the process the effects of consumerism on today's society.
7. "A social survey involves the collection of standardized information from a sample selected as being representative of a particular group or population". Show, in the light of the preceding statement, how a social survey is designed and carried out.
8. Discuss how religion may promote social solidarity and also lead to social conflict and suggest how such a conflict, if it occurs, may be resolved.
