Answer any three questions
1. How would you distinguish modernity from tradition ? Show how modernity and tradition coexist in the Indian context.
2. Assess M. N. Srinivas' contribution to the understanding of Indian society.
3. Comment on the significance of social movements in contemporary times by taking into consideration any social movement in Indian society in the post independence period.
4. What is religious pluralism ? what are the ways in which religion as an institution is undergoing change ?
5. Define social stratification as a sociological concept. Elaborate the changes and continuities in our understanding of social stratification with examples.

Answer any two questions.
6. Environmental movement in India have articulated alternative visions of development and democracy. Comment.
7. Do you think woman and children in India are vulnerable and exposed to violence because of their structural position in Indian Society ?
8. Discuss some of the problems of youth in contemporary Indian Society.
