    (vii)  Write three differences between prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells.

    (viii) Mention three important reasons for selecting pea plant  (Pisum sativum) for his hybridization experiments by Mendel.

     (ix) Mention three differences between asexual and sexual reproduction.

     (x)  Explain briefly the role of  'survival of fittest' and 'Natural selection' in the origin of new species of living organism.

     (xi) Mention the role of (i) wing (ii).flight muscle and (iii) air-sacs in volant adaptation in pigeon.

    (xii) Name the protozoon causing dysentery. How is the disease transmitted ?

    (xiii) What is the main aim of vaccination ? Name two diseases carried by each of housefly and mosquito.

5. Mention the role of skin, lungs and kidney in excretion in animals. Name the hormone that is responsible for the absorption of water in renal tubule. Write the name of the part that connects proximal and distal convoluted tubule of nephron.  3+1+1=5

6.  What is the difference between ganglion and nerve fibre ? Write two functions of lacrimal gland. Mention the function of skin as a sense organ.  1+2+2=5

7.  Name two hormones that are responsible for apical dominance and division of cytoplasm in plant cells respectively. Write full name of two hormones produced in anterior pituitary and one function of each.  ? Describe briefly the process "cytokinesis in animal cell". Name the cytoplasmic organelle that helps in the formation of  "cell plate" in dividing plant cell.  1+3+1=5

9.  Black hair is dominant and white hair is recessive character of guineapig. Explain the result of a cross between two hybrid black guineapigs with the help of a checker board. What types of gamets unite to form a female child in man ?  3+2=5

10.  What do you mean by "fossil"  ?  Describe the importance of fossils as proof of evolution of horse. 1+4=5

11. What is adaptation ? Describe one adaptive feature each of root, stem and thalamus of Lotus plant.  2+3=5

12. Draw a diagram of a typical neurone, and label the following parts in the diagram :
