AC Machines
AC machines or Alternating Current Machines are three types by working principles
- 1. Synchronous
- 2. Asynchronous
- 3. Electrical Transformers
As per constructional and electricity supply system convention, two types of AC machines are build.
- 1. single phase
- 2. Poly-phase ( generally three phase )
The Alternating Current System
Electrical Energy is useful because is can easily transmit from one location to another by transmission line and can be distributed and converted into other forms. At present we produce electrical energy form mechanical form of energy i.e hydel power, wing power etc or indirectly form chemical energy via heat i.e burning of Petroleum, coal etc. where heat energy is convert into rotational energy and then rotational energy convert into electrical energy.
A convenient way of producing electrical energy from mechanical energy by introducing a current-carrying conductor situated in a magnetic field. When a conductor moves in a polar magnetic field, consecutive reversal of polarity results an induced e.m.f developed in the conductor which changes direction in accordance with the change in the magnetic polarity, So the induced emf is alternating in nature and it called alternating e.m.f. So that all ordinary electromagnetic machines are inherently a.c machines.
