The Nobel Prize is a set of international awards which are widely regarded as the most prestigious awards given for intellectual achievement in the world. They are awarded annually from a fund bequeathed for that purpose by the Swedish inventor and industrialist Alfred Bernhard Nobel. The Nobel Prizes are conferred in six disciplines. Due to some controversy Literature Prize is not being given this year. The Nobel Peace Prize winners are being selected by the Norwegian Nobel Committee.
The recipient of the Nobel Prize for 2018 are listed below:-
1. October 1, 2018—Dr. James P. Allison of USA and Dr. Tasuku Honjo of Japan won the Nobel Prize 2018 in Physiology or Medicine jointly on October 1, 2018 for their discovery of cancer therapy by inhibition of negative immune regulation.
2. October 2, 2018—Ms. Donna Strickland of Canada and Mr. Gerard Mourou of France and Mr. Arthur Ashkin of USA won the Nobel Prize for 2018 in Physics on October 2, 2018 for breakthroughs in laser technology that have turned light beams into precision tools for everything from eye surgery to micro machining.
3. October 3, 2018—Ms. Frances H. Arnold of USA and Mr.George P. Smith of USA and Sir Gregory P. Winter of UK won the Nobel Prize for 2018 in Chemistry on October 3, 2018 for revolutionary work in Evolutionary Science with one half to Ms. Frances H. Arnold and the other half jointly to Mr. George P. Smith and Sir Gregory P. Winter.
4. October 5, 2018—Gynaecologist Dr. Denis Mukwege of Democratic Republic of Congo and Yazidi Kurdish human rights activist Ms. Nadia Murad of Iraq won the Nobel Peace Prize for 2018 on October 5, 2018 for their efforts to end the use of sexual violence as a weapon of war and armed conflict. The panel that chose the winners called Dr. Mukwege "the helper who has devoted his life to defending victims of wartime sexual violence". Ms. Murad is the "witness who tells of the abuses perpetrated against herself and others".
5. October 8, 2018—Mr. William Nordhaus of USA and Mr. Paul Romer of USA won the Nobel Prize 2018 in Economics on October 8, 2018 for work in integrating climate change and technological innovation into economic analysis.
6. October 12, 2018—Ms. Maryse Conde, one of the Caribbean's most renowned authors, won the New Academy Prize in Literature, an award created to replace the Nobel Prize for literature 2018, on October 12, 2018. The Nobel Prize for Literature was suspended after a crisis over its handling of allegations against Frenchman Mr. Jean-Claude Arnault, the husband of one of the academy's members. The New Academy is a provisional self-organised group of over 100 volunteers that emerged to provide an alternative global literature prize in 2018.
