Answer any three questions.
1. Do you think that sociology is the scientific study of both social stability and social change ? Justify your answer.
2. Where do you think lies Max Weber's principal contribution to sociology and why ?
3. Is personality totally a product of socialization ? Briefly discuss in this connection the role of heredity and environment in its development.
4. (a) Examine the relative importance of primary and secondary groups in modern social life.
(b) Why is a Reference Group ? What is its role in the life of individual in modern society ?
5. What is the distinction between 'power' and 'authority' ? Briefly narrate which with suitable examples the typology of authority, which is most widely discussed in sociology.

Answer any two questions.
6. What is the role of work ethic in production ? Give in short a critical estimate of the socio-cultural factors influencing work ethic in India.
7. Evaluate the role of religion in the pluri-cultural and multi-religious society of India today.
8. Assess the relative advantages of survey method, participant and non-participant observation in studying the society of a developing country like India.
