From the BISHOP'S COLLEGE in the British Raj to Bengal Engineering College in Independent INDIA and then to the status of a Deemed University and finally it is a State University of West Bengal.

The University has a beautiful green campus covering an area of nearly 49 hectares on the western bank of the river Hooghly ( a section of the river Ganges).

The Institute Building, accommodation for staff and students, campus amenities and services are the main components of the University campus.
