SECTION A

1. Answer any four of the following :

(a) How will you manage a case of acute servere bronchiall asthma ?    15

(b) Enumericate the causes of secondary hypertension. Describe, in brief, the treatment of a patient with essential hyperyension.             6+9= 15

(c) Describe uses of intravenous human immunoglobulin (IVIG) in dermatological diseases.  15

(d) Discuss the management of a 2- year-old child presenting the management of a 2-year-old child presenting with diarrhoea for 10 days. The child weighs 5 kg, looks moribund and has low volume peripheral pulses.    15

(e) Describe the diagnostic categories for acute respiratory infections and pneumonia as per WHO classification. Outline the management of servere pneumonia.          6+9=15

2. (a) What are the common causes of haemetermesis ? Discuss the treatment of duodenal ulcer. 6+14=20

(b) Mention common incriminating allergens. Discuss the management of allergic dermatitis.  8+12=20

(c) Outline the National Immunization Schedule as practicedb under the RCH Programme.   20

3. (a) Describe post-exposure prophylaxis for rabies and management of dog bites.    20

(b) Enumerate types of psoriatic arthropathies. How will you nmanage a case of server psoriatic arthropathy?  6+14=20

(c) Enumerate common congenital cyanotic heart diseases in paediatrics practice. Describe salient clinical features of tetralogy of Fallot.  8+12=20

4. (a) Outline the causes of acute liver cell failure (hepatic encephalopathy). Discuss, in brief, its management.  6+14=20

(b) Describe Koebner's phenomenon and enumerate various skin disorders in which it is observed.   10+10= 20

(c) A 4.2 kg, 38 weeks gestation, amle baby is born to a 28-year-old primi-gravida who has an unsupervised pregnancy by an emergency caesarean section. The child at 1 hour of age was noticed to have respiratory distress and blood  glucose of 12 mg/al. Discuss, in brief, the differential diagnosis and outline the key points in management of this child.   8+12=20

5. (a) How would you manage a young man with recurrent ulceration just above the medial malleolus of right lower limb ?

(b) What do you understand by Evaluation of Health Services ? Describe the elements of an Evaluation Study and discuss the general steps involved.  5+15=20

(c) Discuss meaurements of Disease Frequency in Epidemiology, giving their advantages and limitations.   20

7. (a) How would you manage a 21-year-old lady admitted with features auggestive of repeated episodes of sub acute intestinal obstuction ?Her mother was treated for pulmonary tubstruction ? Her mother was treated for pulmonary tuberculosis.  20

(b) Discuss the hormonal management of a 70- year-old man with carcinoma prostate.    20

(c) How would you manage a 35- year-old lady with 2×2 cm carcinoma breast ?   20

8. (a) Describe the prevention and management of post-partum haemorrhage .    20

(b) Describe the management of a lady with cervical cancer in early stage.     20

(c) Describe the management of pregnancy induced severe hypertensions.    20
