A career in film and television revolves around entertainment and information and infotainment. Films and television has been a major channel for communication across peoples of different countries and cultures. There are many career options in the areas of news reading, anchoring, radio jockeying, video jockeying, acting, production, direction, editing, cinematography, choreography, photography etc.

 

 

Courses
There are many institutes which offer courses in the field of film and television. Most of the courses are conducted at the postgraduate degree level. Besides degrees, a number of institutes offer diploma and certificate courses of shorter duration as well.
Typical courses deal with various aspects of film and television production and presentation such a production, direction, editing, cinematography, film processing, animation, acting, sound engineering, make up, photography.

 

 

Eligibility
Pass in Higher Secondary Certificate Examination (10+2) in any stream, from any statutory Board.
For the postgraduate courses, the students have to clear graduation recognized by any University.

Newsreader is one of the most sought after jobs in Broadcasting. The work may include reading scripted commentaries, interviewing or presenting news bulletins. A university degree with journalistic background and screen presence are considered essential requirements for this position. Knowledge of the topic being featured and an open and well-informed mind are considered an asset. The presenter must be alert, cautious and intelligent at all times. Radio Jockey
To become a radio jockey one need not do any course. Radio stations look for talented youngsters who have a natural talent that include a good voice quality, pronunciation, diction and modulation and also to be lively and be able to chat with the listeners on any topic and be interesting. You can go for auditions in Local FM/AIR station by sending in your resume on plain paper. Acting
A successful career in acting requires hard work, dedication and perseverance. It is a highly competitive field and career spans can sometimes be very short. It can also be very stressful and involves long monotonous working hours. Here physical attributes, personal qualities and talent are considered more important than educational qualifications.

 

Course
No minimum qualification or training is required. Experience in drama productions in the school or amateur drama troupes will be an advantage. A formal programme gives a person exposure, training and education and increases the chances of success.
