Digital Computers are used as a control element to digitally process a number of input signals to generate a number of control signals so that we can manipulate or maintain several plant variables. Digital computer control is very useful and save time for the Control systems with high level of complexity. In digital system any analog input can be converted into digital form by using A/D converter ( analog to digital converter) because computer handles data only in digital form. Also digital output can be modulated to analog output by D/A converter (digital to analog converter) when a analog or continuous function of time variable is required.
In digital control, all input are processed by digital control logic inside the computer and results an output to control the physical system.
